Oblation Statement
October 19, 2019
Margaret M Fisher
Mount Saviour has been here for me, literally, for over 60 years, as it has been for many others.
I hope, as an Oblate, to listen to God, and to the hearts of others, to allow for the presence of deep truth, to trust silence.
I hope, based on my experience of breathing the air up here for so many years, and based on immersion in the Rule of St. Benedict, to focus on my work, whatever it may be, with love.
I hope to say “yes,” and to bless, as often as possible, but to say “no,” as needed, with love and clarity and charity.
Today, I am reminded of a Methodist Hymn, as a way to express the unfolding of a Benedictine life, with the help of Christ.
To quote a small section:
“What a Fellowship, what a Joy Divine
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
What a Blessedness, what a Peace is mine
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms
Leaning, leaning, I’m leaning on the Everlasting Arms”
Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, I offer myself to God and to His people here in Mt Saviour, in my family, community, and worldly encounters.
